Denise Mulry, DVM (Owner/Founder)
Dr. Mulry has been a practicing veterinarian for over 17 years. She built and opened Healing Paws Veterinary Care in 2012, fulfilling her life-long dream of owning her own animal hospital, ensuring she would be able to practice with the quality and compassion she has always believed in. Dr. Mulry received a Bachelor of Science from the University of Delaware in 1996 and received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Ross University in 2000. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the New Jersey Veterinary Medical Association (NJVMA), the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA), and the International Veterinary Academy of Pain Management (IVAPM). Her strongest interest is in pain management and anesthesia, and she is currently pursuing certification as a Certified Pain Practitioner.
Dr Mulry has always supported the effort to end the pet overpopulation problem. She serves as an advisor to rescues, and is always involved in the rescue effort to help end animal suffering. She has a particular soft spot for Pit Bull dogs, and takes a strong stance against Breed Specific Legislation (BSL).
Dr. Mulry lives with her wonderful and supportive husband, Troy, and their two Pit Bulls: Brynn and Betty. She spends her free time doing yoga, reading, cooking, and walking with her dogs.
Mary Altomare, DVM
Dr. Altomare earned a Bachelor of Engineering in Environmental Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology in 2004 and received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from St. Matthews University in 2012 after completing her Veterinary clinical year at the University of Pennsylvania. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) and is an adjunct professor at the Bergen Community College performing surgery for Veterinary Technician Anesthesia classes.
She was previously the Supervising Veterinarian for the Bergen County Animal Shelter and Adoption Center, where she ran a shelter medical team and acted as the expert forensic witness in many animal abuse cases. Her passion is in animal advocacy and she has a special interest in surgery, exotic animals, shelter animal medicine and teaching. She one day wishes to open an animal sanctuary.
Dr. Altomare lives with her husband Nick, their new baby boy Wesley, dog Wilson and two rescue cats Jam Jams and Rhianna. In her spare time, she likes cooking, traveling and spending time with her family.
Stephanie Mulry, CVT
Stephanie began work in the veterinary field in 2005, following in Dr. Mulry’s footsteps (her sister!), pursuing a career working with animals. She received an associates degree from Bergen Community College in 2004 and she earned her certification as a veterinary technician after passing the Veterinary Technician National Exam in 2007. In 2009 she became the Head Technician at a large, multi-doctor veterinary hospital, which incorporated many managerial responsibilities. She is a member of the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA), and New Jersey Veterinary Technicians and Assistants (NJVTA). She has always had a passion for animal advocacy. Quality nursing care and patient comfort are among her top priorities.
Stephanie lives with her fiancé John, their 2 rescued Pit Bulls Oliver and Macintosh, 2 adopted cats Zilly and Tucker and Andy the bearded dragon! She enjoys hiking with her dogs, sewing and reading.
Kelly Briscoe, CVT
Kelly has been working in the veterinary field since 2009. She studied Veterinary Technology at Bergen Community College and has been a Certified Veterinary Technician since 2010. She is a member of AAHA and the NJVTA.
Kelly enjoys reading and spending time with her pets. She lives in West Milford with her husband Tommy, her cat Fernando and their rescue pup, Lily.
Nicole Greco, Veterinary Technician
Nicole started working in the veterinary field in 2013. She is currently working towards her degree to become a Certified Veterinary Technician. Nicole and her partner Jon have 4 dogs; Saya, a Terrier mix; Kitsune, a Shiba Inu; Accalia, a Husky; and Nova, a Malamute mix. In her free time Nicole enjoys outdoor activities and trying different restaurants. Nicole is a member of the NJVTA and AAHA.
Laura has been working in the veterinary field since 2008. She started as a receptionist, working her way up to veterinary assistant at a multi doctor veterinary hospital. Though she works full time in criminal justice, when Healing Paws Veterinary Care opened in 2012, she knew she needed to be a part of the team. Laura enjoys hiking, yoga, and volunteering in dog rescue.
Susan has been with Healing Paws Veterinary Care since July 2015. She has worked in several animal related fields including: retail pet supply, dog grooming, veterinary kennel attendant and veterinary receptionist.
Susan and her husband, Joe share their home with 4 adopted pets: Mia, a Shih Tzu mix; Jack, a Pekingese; and 2 cats, Calli and Kittin. Susan supports The Humane Society, ASPCA, and Best Friends Animal Scoiety. She believes every animal deserves a loving home. In her free time, Susan likes reading, cooking and classical music.
